Illustration and Visual Narrative: drawing words (individual design)

this is my own design of our quote I'M ALL EARS

i was trying to get the sense of "listening" by making it seem like the sound waves coming out of the speakers are travelling through the ears and into the brain, and forming the words there.

i changed up the colors before printing it on the t-shirt because it felt like the brighter colors would look better.

 for this assignment we were devided into groups and given a body part , my group got ears and were told to select a saying based on that body part and create a "multi-facet illustrated narrative"
 we went through a lot of quotes till we finally settled on I'M ALL EARS

we wanted to illustrate what that quote really meant , which is basically i'm listening

 and that was the best way for us to do it

we basically tried to illustrate that feeling (listening) by using objects that relate to that . for "I'M" musical instruments speakers, musical notes , headsets. for ALL sound waves. for Ears ...well ears :-) and headsets because thats what directly puts sound into your ears. the piercings...?? well we just felt like it ..it made the ears look cool after all..

we learned how to turn a picture like this :

into this :

by roughly going over the shadows with pen tool and just adding color..and here you go ! i call it cool shadows :-)

for this cross hatching exercise it took a while to find a picture to work on ..then i decided it will be cute if i just use a baby's picture and so this was my inspiration :-)

 it was the first time i try it ..actually fun :-)
